In the Area

Lazy days will drift by as lovebirds enjoy the view from this amazing retreat. For those who want to explore you can walk to Folkestone along the clifftops. The Warren beach offers cockles and winkles and crabbing catching and can be enjoyed before your journey back home. Folkestone is home to the Sunny Sands, a small but lovely light sandy beach, with arches that go back to Victorian times. The beach can be enjoyed at varying points to see the tides as they draw right up to the arches and reach back out far into the bay. The harbour offers a choice of eateries, cafes and ice cream shop as well as the renowned Rocksalt wine bar and restaurant (bookings are a must!) The new Harbour arm is a walk back in time to see and experience life in war time when the troops were collected by ships to sail into battle. The entire Dover to Folkestone coast is packed with war time history. Today the arm is full of trendy street stall cafes, wine bars and entertainment. The old high street and the creative quarter welcomes you to some trendy shops and art galleries. With so much in Folkestone to enjoy you will have a jam packed weekend and for those looking to see more the neighbouring town of Hythe has the miniature railway, the military canal with romantic boat hire and Port Lympne animal reserve park. You can watch the weather change from the inside La Vue, and get great views of the storms and windy seas!

Folkestone is located by the Eurotunnel in Cheriton and also the Dover docks - both within 15 minutes drive from La Vue. London is less than 1.5 hours drive away and trains go in to Ashford International directly then taxi or into Folkestone Central.

What about the extra bits to complete your break away?

A unique stay in a beautiful location 4.5/5

We loved our short stay at the Airstream. Steve has done a great job in making it very comfortable, with good Wi-Fi, TV, stove, fridge, heating, and a comfortable bed. The bathroom unit is new and clean, and the seating area above the cliff is perfect for chilling on a warm sunny day. The location is very private and peaceful, other than the sound of traffic from the nearby road. Steve was very responsive to anything we needed. Highly recommended.

La Vue - With the most incredible view! 5/5

We arrived to heavy rain and blustery wind, braving the English summer we wrapped up and done a 12 mile walk along the cliffs of Dover. Returning to lite the log burner and enjoy the cosiness of the air streamer - it had everything you need! With so many little thoughtful extras. When the mist finally cleared, WOW what incredible views! Finally able to eat alfresco, and enjoy the beautiful sunset overlooking the channel. The host was so welcoming and friendly, onsite if we needed anything at all. We had such a lovely wholesome couple of days in La Vue, and would highly recommend it for a seaside retreat in the most amazing cliff top location!

Amazing Views! 5/5

La Vue is such a unique place to stay. The views are amazing as it’s right on the cliff side. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see everything for miles (including across the channel to France). It’s quite a peaceful retreat, perfect for a couple or solo traveler. The owner Steve was also very responsive to any questions we had and things were clean upon our arrival. The location is about 15-20 minutes by bus from the Dover Priory train station (in a fairly rural area between Dover and Folkestone), so if you are planning on eating/cooking in the airstream, I’d recommend you stop and get a few groceries before busing/driving out to avoid multiple unnecessary trips. There is a small fridge so you’ll be able to store cold items no problems. Only thing I will call out is if you aren’t a fan of spiders (like my partner is), you might be a bit on edge. The airstream is close to nature and isn’t perfectly sealed, so bugs (including spiders) will sometimes find their way into the space. You might find a few on the walls/floor during your stay, and given the tighter quarters of the airstream they tend to be closer to you than if the space was larger. They are perfectly harmless of course and aren’t trying to bother you, but something to be aware of if you have arachnophobia! Despite the occasional spider, we really enjoyed our stay at La Vue! The views are incredible, and it’s a nice change of pace compared your run-of-the-mill hotel/hostel/BnB. If it rains, you can stay inside the airstream and enjoy the coziness, and if it’s sunny, you can enjoy the sun and breeze on the patio by the cliff side. It’s also very quiet with no light pollution with it being away from the city, so you can enjoy the nature of the southeast coast of England. Dover is a quick 15 minute drive/bus ride away if you want to do something in town (such as Dover Castle or the White Cliffs), and same goes for Folkestone. I’d also recommend you check out the local pub, The Royal Oak. Great beer and delicious English pub food (I’d recommend the sausages) only a 5 minute walk from La Vue. Overall, I’d rate it 5 stars!

This place is incredible. The view is amazing and photos don't do it justice. You can enjoy the outside in front of the airstream (there is a little fireplace) and on the outside benches. In good weather we sunbaked on the lounges and had a bbq. Inside is also wonderful. Great Bose speakers, a tv, soft bedding and towels and a really comfortable bed! Lots of heating (indoor fireplace and heater) for winter and fan for summer. Nice touches - prosecco, milk, cookies, tea and coffee. Kitchen is well-prepped and wifi is strong. Bathroom is also great with a good shower. We had a couple of mishaps, such as the outside lights blowing the fuse, but Steve organised an electrician to fix it a couple days later. We also did the 1.5 hour cliff walk (downhill) to Folkestone which was fun. Just be ware it's not very easy to get a cab back at night! Steve was really handy and let us borrow a salad bowl when we needed it. Wonderful and peaceful. Would definitely go back!

When the sun comes out this wonderful place is astonishing and you won’t want to move from the cliff patio. The airstream is lovingly furnished and sofa and bed are both very comfortable. The walk along the cliff into Folkestone is well worth doing. We stayed for 2 nights and loved it.

La Vue is the PERFECT retreat for couples! Steve was very friendly and quick to answer if we had any questions. The Air stream was very comfy and cozy, especially on a rainy evening with the fire on! We loved exploring the local area but the views from the outdoors were amazing to come back to in the afternoon! A truly amazing stay - we will definitely be back!
