The Crab and Winkle Way

Click2Cycle’s all-time favourite route is The Crab and Winkle Way, which begins in the bustling, historic city of Canterbury, and winds its way through exquisite landscapes fringed with woodlands and extensive farmlands all the way to exquisite Whitstable.

“Canterbury is a treasure trove of ancient buildings, including the breathtaking Canterbury Cathedral. Whitstable is a cheerful seaside town known for its colourful beach huts, vibrant harbour, and exceptional seafood.”

The route is well-marked with distinctive blue and white signs, ensuring you stay on track and focused on the journey, not the GPS. Part of the National Cycle Route 1, the Crab and Winkle Way takes full advantage of the beautiful countryside that Kent has to offer.

Where to go?

Take it wherever you’d like to but here are a few suggestions from us:

The cute independent shops at Sandgate – why not have a cuppa at Loaf in Sandgate.

Or head for Folkestone’s creative quarter with its funky vintage shops and homewares – we love Miss Ginger’s fabric shop.

Rest your legs in Folkestone at The Pilot Beach Bar and enjoy a bite to eat at Little Rock.
