What’s in the area

With its effortless combination of natural beauty with its rich history and culture, Sussex is brimming with attractions and activities, making it the perfect destination for your next holiday.

From the beautiful beaches of Camber and the historic town of Rye, to the quiet, well-connected villages of Blackham (for Royal Tunbridge Wells) and Staplecross (near Rye), there’s something for everyone when you stay at our Sussex holiday cottages. Whatever your requirements, we’ll have somewhere suited to your specific needs, including homes with swimming pools, beachside hideaways, and even dog-friendly holiday lets.

For the perfect seaside escape, Camber and its stunning sandy beach is an ideal option for sunbathing, kite surfing, and long walks along the shore. Some of the county’s more dramatic seaside scenes, meanwhile, are located westward at the Seven Sisters Country Park, part of the Sussex Heritage Coast and home of Birling Gap and Cuckmere Haven beaches.

History enthusiasts need look no further than a sojourn to 1066 Country, the very lands upon which the Battle of Hastings took place. Visit the historic town of Battle and its 930-year-old abbey, originally built by William the Conqueror in penance for winning the battle, before taking a short drive to Hastings, with its atmospheric Old Town, antique shops, and the iconic Hastings Castle. Nearby, the picturesque town of Rye offers endless nooks and crannies to explore, amid cobbled streets and historic buildings, as well as distant views across Romney Marsh.

Nature lovers will delight in the South Downs National Park, a haven for walkers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. Wander through the rolling hills, dotted with charming villages and ancient woodlands, or take a scenic hike up to Ditchling Beacon, one of the Downs’ highest points, for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Ashdown Forest, the inspiration of A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh, also offers peaceful walks, and a chance to explore the enchanting landscapes that inspired the beloved children’s tales.
