For many visitors to this part of Kent, there’s nothing like a spot of golf to help wind down for the weekend, and in New Romney you’re in good company as the county is home to almost 100 courses. Littlestone Golf Club, founded in 1888, is a classic remote links course, located right on the fringe of the Romney Marshes. There’s also Lydd Golf Club and Hythe Golf Club, both of which feature 18-hole courses for a long afternoon of play. Alternatively, you could opt to perfect your swing at the former, with each of the 17 bays at the driving range installed with Toptracer technology to help hone your skills.

New Romney’s location places it within an easy distance from several towns and attractions in Kent and East Sussex. Nearby locales include pretty Dymchurch to the north, Dungeness’ fascinating landscape to the south, and – slightly further afield to the west – the Sussex town of Rye, where you can discover its medieval history, half-timbered houses, and incredible 600-year-old pub, the Mermaid Inn.
