Further afield from Staplecross is Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest which offers extensive woodlands for outdoor activities great for adults and children. The picture-perfect Bodiam Castle is just a short drive and why not enjoy a trip on the Kent & Sussex Steam Railway to Tenterden, another pretty market town. For beach lovers, the fantastic Kent and East Sussex coastline is close by and for those looking to explore the local countryside, there are a number of easily accessible footpaths. 

A serene village set amid swathes of countryside, Staplecross provides the ultimate rural escape, and somewhere to completely switch off from your day-to-day. That said, there are several highly-rated attractions located within close driving distance, including the incredible remnants of the Battle of Hastings (Battle Abbey); castles Pevensey, Hastings, and – most famously – Bodiam; the medieval town of Rye; popular Camber Sands beach; ornamental Great Dixter House & Gardens; the boutiques and taverns of Hastings’ Old Town; and several local pubs and village stores that’ll provide you with a real taste of traditional English village life.

Set in the High Weald Area of Natural Beauty (AONB), Staplecross is surrounded by beautiful countryside in all directions. The Woodland Trust’s largest ancient woodland, Brede High Woods is filled with history and some incredible and rare wildlife; visit in spring, and you can also look forward to a romantic walk among the bluebells as part of a romantic day out.

Located close to Staplecross are also several vineyards that offer tours and tastings of brilliant English wines, Oastbrook Estate Vineyard and Carr Taylor Wines being two popular options.
