Holiday homes in Ashford, Kent

If it’s the historical charm you’re after for your stay, head to Dormestone Farm, a 15th-century estate sleeping up to 12 guests and offering acres of extensive private grounds. Alternatively, situated within easy reach of Ashford is beautiful Romney Marsh, where we have three luxurious shepherd’s huts – all complete with sumptuous double beds, a kitchen, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower.

What’s in the area

Ashford is no stranger to Kent’s rural heritage. The town is home to some of Kent’s most treasured beauty spots and historic homes like Godinton House and Gardens and Boy’s Hall. As well as heritage days out, there are plenty of varied attractions in Ashford for all interests and ages – including young animal lovers – at the Rare Breeds Centre at Woodchurch. If you need more ideas on how to spend a weekend in Ashford, check our blog post, or read our summary below.

Ashford offers a range of activities for adults, including visiting the beautiful Godinton House and Gardens, and shopping at the Ashford Designer Outlet.

There’s also the Ashford Green Corridor – a series of parks, recreation grounds and other green spaces that run alongside the town’s rivers – which offers several picturesque spots for a picnic or a stroll. For something a little different, try Revelation, a church that lends its incredible acoustics to up-and-coming musical talent come nightfall.

We recommend spending a romantic day out at the charming 14th-century Godinton House and Gardens, followed by a wine tasting tour at a nearby vineyard (Nine Oaks, Wayfarer and Chapel Down are just a few in the immediate region). Dining at one of Ashford’s restaurants, then taking a walk through the town’s Green Corridor, also makes for an intimate evening date.

Families can enjoy an afternoon of shopping at the Ashford Designer Outlet, courtesy of its multitude of shops for every family member, as well as Haribo and Lindt outlets to satisfy a sweet tooth.

The Ashford Museum is a great stop for learning about the history of this market town, from the Neolithic Age to today. For nature lovers and families with older children, a fun day at Conningbrook Lakes Country Park always goes down a treat; elsewhere, the Rare Breeds Centre offers a hands-on experience with farm animals that children of all ages will love.

Visitors to Ashford can enjoy the scenic trails of the Ashford Green Corridor, pay a visit to the historic St. Mary’s Church, or explore the picturesque 17-acre Victoria Park. The Ashford Musem and Conningbrook Lakes Country Park are also both free to enter. For those whose stays overlap with a Sunday lunchtime, we recommend taking a wander around Ashford Farmers’ Market to enjoy browsing the wares from local farmers and artisans.
