Inside, the barn feels impressively spacious, with around 1,000 sq ft to enjoy and a striking double-height vaulted ceiling that gives the open-plan living space real impact. Exposed beams add warmth and character, while the beautifully finished kitchen with black granite worktops is fully equipped for everything you fancy cooking – from slow breakfasts to supper after a day out, or even a picnic to take with you into the countryside.
With miles of footpaths and open landscape on the doorstep, days here can be as active or as relaxed as you like. Pull on your walking boots and head out across the surrounding countryside, or keep things closer to home with lunch or dinner at one of two much-loved local pubs nearby – The Tiger Inn and The Five Bells.
Meanwhile, back at the barn, the living area is made for comfortable evenings in, whether that means a drink by the outdoor dining area as the sun goes down or a quiet night on the sofa after a day of exploring. When it’s time to turn in, the elegant king-size bedroom with en suite offers a calm and restful space to end the day.

We hope you have a wonderful stay in The Thatched Barn. We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.- Please ensure you check out on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time. For outdoor smoking please use the area by the parking space as smoking is not permitted near the thatch.
- Please note, for insurance purposes, the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- For fire safety reasons, please do not use any candles in the property.
- Please note, quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
- Please be respectful to our neighbours.

Surrounded by miles of unspoilt countryside, with a choice of picturesque walks and cycle routes nearby, as well as a choice of locally renowned pubs; the nearest being the charming Tiger Inn and the beautiful Five Bells at Brabourne.
Nestled between the coast and the city, with the quaint coastal town of Hythe 15 minutes by car, and the historic cobbled streets of the city of Canterbury a few minutes further, exploring this beautiful part of Kent further couldn’t be easier.

The Thatched Barn is located in Stowting, within the beautiful Kent Downs National Landscape, just outside of Ashford. Owing to its location, guests staying at this countryside holiday home benefit from its close proximity to local walking trails and nature reserves (West Wood, Park Gate Down), as well as country pubs. A little further afield are Port Lympne Safari Park, Canterbury, and Folkestone – all a 20-minute drive away – which make for excellent day trips.
The property is well equipped for a comfortable self-catered stay, including kitchen essentials, towels, and linens. Guests may wish to bring walking shoes or boots, layers for countryside evenings, and anything needed for outdoor dining or barbecuing. This countryside bolthole also has a Nespresso coffee machine, so do make sure you bring the correct pods should you wish to use it.
