Handbuilt in Sussex, and located on the edge of the charming village of Burwash, Meadow Sweet is a beautiful one-bedroom shepherds hut for two that isn't just cool for its own sake – it's desirable because it really is that beautiful. Situated on a spacious rural plot on land belonging to the owner who lives next door, it’s their way of sharing a lovely corner of Sussex they so clearly care about.
Inside, there’s everything you need for a comfortable stay: a roomy double bed, beautifully finished bathroom, bijou kitchen, cute two-seater sofa and log burner for those cosy nights in. Outside, guests can while away some time in the hot tub – heated by the outside log burner – or toast their favourite snack on the firepit. Surrounded by oak, birch and pine trees, the hut is in an idyllic setting where it's easy to get lost in the woods for a while, before turning back to the promise of a freshly brewed tea or coffee (there’s a Nespresso machine in the hut) – best sipped while stretched out in the hammock, and looking out at the view of the Sussex Wealden landscape.
And if you happen to visit in high summer, do make sure to take a moment to really relax and breathe in the surroundings; an almond-like scent drifts across the Weald and, even if just for a little while, gives this lovely holiday home its name.
