In the Area

Situated on the edge of the Dungeness Estate which is home to an unusual landscape. The headland on the south coast of Kent is formed largely of a shingle beach. The Dungeness reserve itself is set back from the sea, boasting mile after mile of open shingle, fresh water pits, wet grassland and stunning wildflower meadows. Dungeness is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK and designated as a Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Natura 2000 site with plenty of walks to enjoy.

For train lovers amongst you, pick up the miniature steam trains that run from Hythe, New Romney and Dymchurch and stop off at Dungeness and climb the stairs to the top of the Lighthouse for a stunning 360 degree view of the area.

Gardeners may be aware that Derek Jarman’s House and garden is located at Dungeness and you are free to walk around and enjoy his planting and sculptures.

So whatever the season you can be sure to enjoy Dungeness and all it has to offer. Don't forget to bring your raincoat as the weather can be known to turn, and your camera to capture the wonderful sights on offer. You will soon discover why it is popular with wildlife enthusiasts, artists, and walkers. Oh... and make sure you visit the renowned Snack Shack at the Dungeness Fish Hut to pick up the daily catch to cook on the BBQ or enjoy a spot of lunch!

Great place, whatever the weather! 5/5

We had a lovely family getaway here. When the sun shone we walked down to the lighthouse, rode on the train and ate outside in the lovely garden. When the weather turned we played hours of darts and ping pong, cooked in the well-stocked kitchen and had lovely fish and chips in the Pilot Inn. Bedrooms were very comfy and everything was very clean. Check-in, and all communication with Bloom Stays, was faultless.

We had a lovely time. Such a well equipped holiday home for our family of eight. The kids loved the games room, watching the trains go by and playing on the beach. Such an excellent location. Many an hour spent drink in hand, watching the world go by from the "viewing room" Very secure garden for dogs. We will return

Thanks for a lovely couple of days over the East Bank Holiday. Arrived Saturday afternoon and got settled in for a lovely family dinner and a mixture of virgin and real cocktails. Sunday was a very misty one where we had a adventure on the train and saw the lighthouse followed by a brisk dip in the sea and a hunt on the beach. Thanks again.

An excellent, well equipped home in an ideal position. The games room was particularly good in view of the inclement weather, the only element beyond your control in an otherwise exemplary holiday home. The Pilot Inn was also a blessing on the first night when we weren't in the mood for cooking. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to other families. p.s the Christmas tree was a very kind thought.

A Perfect Family Holiday 4.5/5

The property was very clean and extremely comfortable. All the appliances are top of the range. The games room is an added bonus which compliments the house nicely. The area around is nice and quiet which helps the holiday feeling. We would Highley recommend this cottage for a quality family holiday.
