Starting with Bedgebury Oast, a very spacious house sleeping up to 10 guests, this holiday home is designed for long lazy days in the garden or entertaining guests al fresco. If you’re gathering the whole gang, head to Finchcocks Oasts which sleeps up to 42 guests, where you can enjoy laps in the outdoor swimming pool or competitive games of tennis on the private courts.
Goudhurst village has a small selection of shops including the popular gift shop, Billy Loves, and Village Life clothing boutique. More comprehensive shopping at Tunbridge Wells makes for a fabulous day out. Closer to Goudhurst itself, Bedgebury Pinetum offers a managed magical forest with woodland trails to enjoy, perfect for family walks and bicycle rides, with a fun play trail for children and a Go Ape tree top adventure for the more adventurous.
Whilst Lower Ladysden Farm on the village outskirts has a huge selection of seasonal PYO fruit and veg, some of which is served up in its own farm shop & café. Look out for its Halloween and Christmas celebrations, especially for children.
Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is a beautiful location for a romantic stroll, set in the heart of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Here, you can take a peaceful walk among 12,000 specimen trees, before settling down amidst the landscape for a picnic. Not too far away, there’s Scotney Castle – a country house accompanied by the ruins of a medieval, moated manor house on its grounds. The castle’s gardens are a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and features a spectacular collection of flowers providing vibrant colour year-round.
Children big and small will love exploring the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, with its walking and cycling trails and the Go Ape tree top adventure playground. Bewl Water is also a fantastic option brimming with activities – from watersports (paddleboarding, canoeing) and pedalos to soft play and cycling, there’s something for everyone.
The weekends offer the perfect opportunity to stop by Goudhurst’s farm shops, browse the locally made produce, and perhaps find something lovely to remember your holiday by. The village’s charming pubs and cafés provide great spots to relax and unwind, while the nearby Biddenden Vineyards offers a fabulous tasting of its ciders and wines.
Nearby attractions include the beautiful Sissinghurst Castle, the historic market town of Cranbrook with its working windmill, and the scenic Bewl Water. The nearby town of Tenterden also offers additional activities and attractions, such as the Kent & East Sussex Railway and Chapel Down Vineyard.
