This long-awaited restaurant by twice Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar has finally opened in The Pantiles. Essence offers a refined pan-Indian dining experience, blending traditional flavours with modern techniques. It’s a must-visit for guests who appreciate high-quality Indian cuisine, and an excellent setting for any dining requirement, whether you’d prefer your own private sanctuary, or al fresco dining in the summer. Reservations are highly recommended.

The Counter by Robin Read

Having drawn a large following with a short-term but successful residency at The Daily Bread, The Counter has found a permanent venue on Calverley Road. Helmed by chef Robin Read, this gorgeous restaurant combines the best of local, sustainable fare and seasonality to serve up a tasting menu that infuses classical cookery with new techniques. Our recommendation? For a treat, opt for the 10-course menu – this is exclusively served at the chef’s counter and presented by chef Robin Read himself, providing you with the full benefit of all the kitchen theatrics.

Burnt Orange

If you’re yet to enjoy the Burnt Orange experience, let it be known you’re in for a treat. Having already drummed up a sterling reputation for itself in its inaugural restaurant in Brighton & Hove, Burnt Orange is set to bring its signature cocktails and open-flame cooking to Mount Pleasant with a much-anticipated second location. This venue promises a vibrant atmosphere and menu to match, making it equally suited to a lovely treat during a romantic getaway or a fun-filled, grown-up family gathering.

This brand-new Italian has opened up on Camden Road, bringing handcrafted pizza to Tunbridge Wells. Beautifully designed, and with an authentic menu featuring only fresh ingredients, Tuci makes for a delightful visit that’ll please both grown-ups and little ones. From delicious Diavola pizza (nduja, salami, kalamata olives and basil) to a simple margherita for the kids, there’s something for everyone. While Tuci’s size means it won’t be able to accommodate larger groups, the restaurant does also offer its dishes to takeaway (we think pizza is best enjoyed al fresco anyway!).

Palette Pizza & Art

Opening on Upper Grosvenor Road, opposite the Meadow Road car park, Palette Pizza and Art is set to open soon with its unique combination of sourdough pizza and an art gallery – right in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. Spread across a ground floor and a mezzanine, this bright and airy space is gearing up to be a great destination to bring the kids thanks to its fun, colourful decor and straightforward, please-all dining option.
