Lovely cosy cottage 4.7/5

We've been in many lovely cottages for our holidays in the UK, but Walnut Tree is the nicest of all. Small and cosy, and has everything nou could want for. Fine shower. Large bed is oke. (Smaller bed could do with a new mattress). It was warm in the house when we arrived: very welcoming in the autumn. Everything you need for cooking is available. Public footpath right next to the cottage, and you may walk on the estate grounds and gardens whenever you want. Yess, you will bump your head more then once. (We both 6 feet tall) But the low beams are part of the charm. We will definitely return!

Location of the cottage is excellent, very peaceful, nice garden, close to Belmont and North Downs. 4.3/5

The condition of the cottage (regarding maintenance, comfort and cleanliness) could do with some updating for instance: the deep freezer was full of ice at our arrival; all knives are quite blunt; the kitchen chairs are quite wobbling; the bathroom fan was out of order and maybe this is the reason that there is already mold in the bathroom; the garden bench and table are very heavy, no change from sun to shadow and vv possible. the changing of the bedlinen and towels (we had a 14 day stay) was not according to the information booklet in the cottage;

Return stay 4.5/5

Return stay to this beautiful cottage. We love it so much. The garden was fantastic. Our toddler spent hours running round. Comfortable sleep and kitchen now has prosecco glasses which I mentioned at last review. Will always stay here and can't wait to book again

Pretty country cottage 4.3/5

Very comfortable roomy cottage packed with original features. Well equipped kitchen although 4 /6 matching better quality wine glasses would not come amiss. Lovely log burner for cosy evenings as well as a good central heating system. Large bedroom with comfortable bed. Downstairs bathroom small but adequate. Well situated for visiting our family, for country walks, access to the coast and shopping. The only negative is that the garden is really neglected and requires quite a lot of tidying and repairs.

Return visit 4.3/5

Been many times now to Walnut tree and still love it. Has all your home comforts and a wonderful garden to explore with a toddler. Only things that could be improved are if there were some prosecco glasses in the kitchen and if the bed was bigger in the main bedroom. Will return again as love the privacy the location and the cosy cottage.

Beautiful cottage 3.8/5

The cottage is a little gem of a place, full of character and very old, set in a stunning location, (although if you are over 6' like my husband you may have a few head bumps by the end of your stay) . It's so peaceful, with stunning views. However, it could really do with some love and attention inside and out as the house and garden are very neglected. Such a shame as the location couldn't be bettered and the cottage could be picture book perfect.

comfort and condition 4.7/5

The double bed (new?) makes a lot of noise. It is also quite small if you consider the size of the room. For summer nights a duvet a far to warm; it would be nice to provide some single sheets or any other light bedlinen.

Beautiful location but sparse amenities 4.2/5

I love this cottage and have had the pleasure of staying a number of times. However (and as I have fed back directly to the management team previously), i think at this price point it really needs to be better equipped. No spare bin liner, no kitchen roll or tin foil, limited supply of loo roll etc always means we end up buying more than we should for a short stay. The new bed in the main room is also sadly really quite uncomfortable and really needs a decent topper to make the stay comfortable. Both me and my husband had terrible backs and shoulder pain after a three night stay. But, the location is idyllic so these are really only minor gripes 🙂

Fantastic cottage in the Kent Countryside 4.8/5

A great little (not so little) cottage in the Kent countryside. We have stayed twice now and find it a perfect escape from London. The cottage has a large garden (great for bird spotting) and a very comfortable sitting room. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also a dishwasher (and washing machine) which makes life easier. Plenty of walking from the door, although the nearest pub is 3.5 miles by foot. It sleeps 3 in two bedrooms and plenty of private parking for 2 large cars. Highly recommended + recommend you also visit Belmont House and Gardens (which you can see from the kitchen window).

No problems 4.2/5

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely old cottage. It was well equip and comfortable. The only problem was that the information told you to leave the dustbins by the road for collection, but didn't say which day the collection came..therefore both bins were full.

Idyllic country cottage 4.8/5

Great cottage for 2 or 3 people. Well equipped and it even has a dishwasher! 2 good sofas to sit comfortably on next to the log burner. Garden wildlife is amazing - take bird seed for the table - we saw 22 species in the garden alone. Belmont house and gardens are great too - not so much to see in the winter but still a nice easy walk. Plenty of walking from the house, nearest pub is approx 3 miles walking cross country - will help you build up an appetite! All this and and yet only 10 mins (by car) from Faversham and all it holds (good food, shopping, antiques and many many pubs etc) Had a great time - hope to come back next year.

Lovely cottage and garden 5/5

The one disappointment at Walnut Tree was the erratic and poor tv reception. BBC channels really were not accessible and it is not a smart tv, so the entertainment choice is very limited. Otherwise the cottage is perfect, well equipped, very clean and comfortable, in a lovely rural setting but only 10 minutes into Faversham.

Not for the tall 4.3/5

A well maintained cottage with comfy bed and quality linen. Beams are low, particularly in the kitchen / diner, so it was difficult to relax for us (both being 5'10 and over). Has a lovely garden with some unusual wild birds.

A lovely break from London 5/5

Walnut Tree Cottage is delightful. The large and slightly over-grown garden is even more delightful. The views across to Belmont are incomparable. We have stayed several times at the Prospect Tower on the Belmont Estate and several times on another cottage on the estate but rather further away. We also visit Belmont for the day from time to time when suburban life becomes too oppressive. It is a lovely quiet haven of peace. The staff are very friendly but entirely unobtrusive. The pay-as-you-go tearoom is probably unique. We love the place, and loved the cottage - and didn't really go anywhere else.

Stay at the Walnut tree cottage 4.8/5

Excellent cottage, excellent garden, everything fine. The cleanliness scored 4 in stead of 5 because the kitchen crockery was not completely clean.

Pleasant Retreat 3.3/5

The cottage is in an excellent location being quiet, peaceful and close to countryside walks yet in easy reach of local facilities. It is comfortable and well equipped. Personally we found the position of the toilet and shower room adjacent to the kitchen and well away from the bedroom rather inconvenient. We were fortunate to enjoy blossom, roses and birdsong during our stay. The wisteria covered outdoor eating area in particular was a joy. However we were disappointed and rather sad to see the clearly once beautiful garden now neglected and overgrown. The ponds have stagnated and the paths full of weeds. No gardener attended during out two week stay. The cottage provided a temporary refuge for us while we were waiting to move into our new home. Our recommendation to others would be dependent on their age, mobility and height.

Simply glorious 4.8/5

We’ve stayed at this cottage a number of times now - testament to its delightful location. The recent refurbishment of the shower room and repainting has given the interior a lovely freshen up.

Beautiful, traditional country cottage 4.3/5

Beautiful cottage, really well presented. Excellent position for exploring Kent. The gardens are large but, for the majority of our stay were unusable as the grass hadn't been cut so was full of crane flies and really damp until the afternoon, which was a shame. Interior is tasteful and immaculate. The shower is a let down ...small and difficult to clean so looks a bit grubby around the doors.

Walnut Tree Cottage 4.8/5

Walnut Tree Cottage fitted the bill for a short post operation stay. It was everything that we wished it to be.

Peaceful and Relaxing 4.3/5

Superb characterful country cottage in relaxing and peaceful surroundings and lots to explore in the area

Guest | 18 July 2021

Lovely as always 4.3/5

Walnut Tree cottage is a lovely place to stay peaceful, cosy and the gardens are just beautiful toilet downstairs only so can be a bit tricky at night if you have mobility issues as bedroom upstairs would love it if there was a king size bed instead of a double as there is plenty of room for it lovely cottage and amenities Short on large glasses, nice wine glasses and prosecco glasses would make it perfect 4th time staying and will be back again

Stunning location, cottage could get better appointed 4.2/5

The cottage is in the most beautiful setting and the garden is idyllic - truly picture perfect. I feel at this price point (which I think is fair given the uniqueness of the property) the cottage should be better appointed with some of the basics - tea, kitchen towel, tinfoil, cling film, more loo roll etc - but this is only a minor gripe. It’s a stunning retreat and we will return!

Third stay 4.5/5

Third stay at this beautiful cottage and garden so private and really cosy A few fittings could be updated ie sofas and shower room. would definitely return again

Peaceful haven in heart of country 4.7/5

Perfect haven of peace, helping us to relax and recover from very stressful family circumstances. Tucked away in the heart of the country, watching pheasants and squirrels in the charming garden, sitting by the cosy wood stove, sleeping in such calm..... just what we needed. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer - and just missing all the daffodils in full bloom.

October stay near Faversham 4.8/5

I knew Walnut Tree Cottage from my childhood growing up very near here so I was delighted to see we could rent it for a holiday. It's a perfect location for a quiet stay, with walks on the beautiful Belmont Estate but easy to access Faversham, Whitstable and Canterbury. We had a fabulous meal out at The Sportsman in nearby Seasalter. The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. It was rather wet the week we stayed but the central heating and log burner in the inglenook fireplace kept it cosy. The parking is easy. I loved the garden which is a good size and a Summer visit to take advantage of it would be good. Overall a great place to stay for either visiting local attractions or hunkering down for a quiet getaway. I hope to come again.

A Lovely Escape! 4.2/5

My family and I stayed for a week at the Walnut Cottage and we absolutely loved the property as well as the location. The home was nicely set up and although the ceilings were very low they had a nice modern kitchen and beautiful garden to relax in. The only disappointing annoyance was the wasp nests in varying locations along the roof of the cottage, making the garden inundated with more wasps than usual which made my wife who is somewhat allergic quite uncomfortable and uneasy when outside. There was a massive hive on the top of the chimney hatch as well as some along the windows that wouldn’t allow us to keep them open at night. Overall, we enjoyed staying at this property and hope to come back!

A lovely surprisingly modern cottage surrounded by nature 4.3/5

What a lovely house, not the tiny cottage you would imagine but despite the low beams on ground floor, light and airy upstairs with plenty of space and storage for the three of us. The gardens are amazing as is the view of the estate, very peaceful but you must like driving on tiny lanes as they are the only way in and out! The facilities felt modern and the beds very comfortable. Mobile reception and the wifi were both awful so bring dvds and books! Also some bird feed as there are loads of feeders. The shower was small and you race the water level as it rises around your feet but it was manageable. Also the heating in one bedroom and living room never went off no matter what we tried. Makes the spare room roasting in Summer. We brought our fans so it solved that. Comms were good on booking and my emails were answered but whilst there we couldn’t get hold of the property manager so good job there was no emergency. Loads to do around the area and it was a lovely stay for us. Very restful and lots to explore. All in all a very well priced week away, I would recommend.
