Oast Barn Cottage is a charming 300-year-old cottage attached to the owner's original hop barn. Lovingly restored the cottage creates a romantic one-bedroomed cottage with a pretty garden. Retaining its original features this cosy property is set in a quiet peaceful rural location and yet close to lots of fascinating places to visit such as the market Town of Faversham the world heritage site of Canterbury and the famous oyster fishing town of Whitstable. Walkers and cyclists will also be spoilt for choice with the rolling countryside and orchards of this delightful part of the Garden of England.

The traditional wooden floorboard beams and wood-burning stove create a cosy and comfortable sitting room while the kitchen’s hand-built cupboards and original brick floor add further character. Upstairs is a romantic bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a large roll-top bath perfect for a luxurious soak.

A nice walk or a short drive takes you to The Plough at Stalisfield Green, a lovely pub with a great reputation. And the village of Charing with its small independent shops is also a short drive away

Modern twist on olde world cottage 4.8/5

Lovely last minute olde world cottage with a modern twist when our original booking fell through. Very happy with our choice in this quiet and secluded cottage in the Kent countryside. Great bedroom and huge bathroom was a delight really enjoyed our stay. The limited headroom downstairs and the doors was not a problem for me as I’m only 4”11 whereas anyone taller like my partner who is 6” plus, might find it challenging.

Perfect for a relaxing break 5/5

Oast Barn Cottage was the perfect location to get away from it all. Small but perfectly formed, the cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing break and the owner even provided some essential to help us settle in right away. It was a perfect base to explore the surrounding area, or just sit and relax in the garden enjoying the birdsong!

Beautiful cottage 5/5

Oast barn cottage was delightful, a beautiful haven full of singing birds and nature. Helen stocked the kitchen on our arrival with fresh juice, eggs and bread and little extra bits. A welcoming and wonderful peaceful stay, the bathtub and bed were a treat. So cosy.

A lovely little rural cottage for 2 in a peaceful location. 4.8/5

We really enjoyed our stay in oast barn cottage which, for us, was ideally situated for visiting close family who live barely 15 minutes drive away. The cottage is beautifully presented, the bed extremely comfortable and the large bathroom with shower and free standing bath an absolute pleasure. Our weeks stay coincided with an extremely cold spell and at our request the owner very kindly increased the length of time that the central heating was running. There is a rather an ornate log burner which we lit once, but it took quite a while to "get going" and therefore it wasn't a practical option to fit in with our comings and goings. We are used to dealing with log burners as we have a large one at home but, as attractive as it is, we didn't find the model in the cottage very user friendly. Apart from that we would recommend slightly more crockery/cutlery is provided (only 2 small mugs, 4 dinner plates, 2 dessert plates, 4 side plates, 2 soup bowls). Everything else was perfect! Thank you for a lovely stay.

A Wonderful Kent break!! 5/5

We absolutely loved Oast Barn Cottage and our stay in Kent. A lovely cottage for us with our dog - big garden to run around in. Location was great for getting to places such as Faversham, Canterbury, Whitstable to name but a few! Helen our host was absolutely lovely, kind and helpful throughout or stay - nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was cosy and very comfortable and exactly what we wished for. We were both very sad to leave and hope to return soon to see lots of other things we weren’t able to see this time. Thank you again Helen for a lovely 2024 Summer break!

Oast Barn Cottage Visit 5/5

We had a lovely few days staying in this very homely cottage. Very well appointed, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including very nice welcome goodies, thank you! Good walks from the doorstep to enjoy with our border collies, and the secure garden was a real plus. We were lucky to have scorching weather for our long weekend, and the garden was a cool sanctuary for us all to relax in. Highly recommend a visit to Belmont House and Gardens, very close by and free entry when staying at Oast Barn Cottage.

Comfortable stay in great location 4.3/5

Oast Barn Cottage was comfortable, although smaller than it looks on the photographs. It's in a really peaceful location, very rural but we found it really central to the places we wanted to visit. The cottage would benefit from a little more storage but appreciate it's an old building.

Lovely cottage in peaceful hamlet 5/5

Lovely cottage and garden. Comfy bed and luxurious bath. All necessities catered for in kitchen and living room. Welcome pack for us and our dog.

Good location and comfortable 4/5

Oast Barn Cottage is well located for visiting Kent's attractions and comfortably warm, although one of us found the bed too soft. A particular benefit is the use of a season ticket for the excellent Belmont House and Gardens which is only 5 minutes away by car. The kitchen is small and therefore there is limited crockery-two mugs for example- which we think could be increased with better use of the kitchen storage there is. This means if anything like a mug handle is found to be cracked then whoever is staying needs a replacement promptly to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.

Picture perfect cottage in picture perfect hamlet 4.3/5

Bells Forstal, if you want a break 'away from it all' is pretty much perfect, about 6 houses and 3 cars an hour, many places to walk your dog straight from the door. A large garden which is fenced all round and a beautiful cottage. The only downside for us was the bed, which was very uncomfortable, possibly because the bedroom floor slopes in several directions. The bath and shower were great and the bathroom is wonderful, a bath with a view!

Excellent stay 5/5

Thank you so much to the owners and Bloom Stays for a great week at Oast Barn. The place was amazing, very peaceful, comfortable and a great location for exploring Kent. Cottage had everything we needed, and nice touches including water bowl and treats for our dog. Very comfy bed, lovely garden. We really enjoyed our stay

Week away in the countryside 4.3/5

Excellent location, cottage was quiet and the garden views were lovely feeling priviate. Wood burner worked very well and the heating was good, we loved the rustic feel to the cottage. Kitchen had adequate facilities, the electri hob was good for cooking and the oven worked well, the hot and cold water ran no problems although did have a lot of limescale build up but to be expected out in the countryside! My only complaints regarding the kitchen were the kitchen knife being dull, I wouldve brought my own next time. One of the bowls looks like it may be on its way out as it had been repeared several times! The bedroom is cute and has a lovely warm feel to it and waking upin the morning to birds chirping was lovely, the bathroom has excellent facilities too. The living room is well stocked with dvds and games to play. An excellent place to get away and relax.

A lovely comfortable and charming private cottage in beautiful countryside with lots to do and see 4.8/5

What a gorgeous cottage, well appointed and so comfortable. Best sleep I have had in years. The number of birds chirping away was gorgeous. I even saw a barn owl one night. Helen the owner is really lovely and truly cares about ensuring your stay is the best it can be.

A perfect country cottage 4.8/5

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Oast Barn cottage over the long Jubilee weekend, and couldn't have have a better time. The cottage is picture perfect, with a beautiful garden, lovely sun loungers, a table and chairs, and even a small barbecue. The garden gets the sun almost the whole day, which is wonderful. The cottage itself is incredibly cosy with a lovely log burner (not used by us), a really comfy bed and a great shower, the latter two being something which is important to us. The cottage is equipped with most things that you would expect and has a lovely, homely feel. Two very small criticisms would be that the wifi was poor for a lot of our stay, and because we were both having to work over the weekend, it did hinder our progress with getting things done and despite the booster boxes, it probably needs improving. The sofa was probably just a little bit small to get really comfy on and could probably do with being a touch bigger. Separately, the owner did not know that our pets were cats, despite us informing Bloom and asking them to check if cats were allowed, as we have found in other cottages that when pets are stipulated as being accepted, it usually just means dogs . The owner was very gracious and accepted the situation but I would have preferred she had been completely in the know. All that said, it would absolutely not prevent us from returning to Oast Barn cottage as we have come back to London with fabulous memories of a great weekend.

Lovely cottage 5/5

Peaceful getaway with a lovely garden. Beautiful cottage, comfortable and well stocked. Great location to explore the Kent coastline.

A cottage with lots of character 4.3/5

A lovely cottage, full of character. Comfortable bed. Great shower & bath. Warm when log burner lit otherwise bit chilly and draughty. Thankyou for thoughtful provisions on arrival. A very peaceful location with dog walks from the door. A good base from which to explore the coast and Canterbury. Bit expensive for self catering accommodation but would definitely stay here again.

A short break in Kent 4.7/5

We had a lovely three nights in Oast Barn Cottage. The owners had kindly left some provisions and dog treats which were much appreciated. The cottage is very well located for exploring Kent and an easy journey to Faversham, Whitstable and Margate. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and very peaceful.

Just as described 5/5

The cottage was lovely, just as the description and pictures on the website. The owners were just next door so easy to get any help if needed. Plenty of cutlery and crockery. Lovely few essentials (milk, butter, coffee, tea, sugar, bread and some dog treats too). Very comfortable bed. Quiet environment, just the birds. Would recommend the cottage. Just needs a little sign on the gate as it was a little obscure.

Emma Hayden-west | 20 June 2021

Idyllic stay perhaps a little pricey for what it is. 4.2/5

This was a great little spot to have a break from the city. Everything you need to have a break - sit back and listen to the birds in a quiet spot, with an open fire in the evenings. Location wise, if you have a car - this is a lovely spot. Close to lots of walks and gardens and a short enough drive from the coast, namely whitstable which was a lovely place to visit. We were left to enjoy it with zero interruption which was perfect for our needs. We would say that value for money wise, we think slightly overpriced for the accommodation size/facilities.
