Just minutes from the sea in Hythe and overlooking the historic Royal Military Canal, Hydrangea House is a beautifully appointed coastal retreat in the centre of the town’s conservation area, sleeping 10 guests comfortably with space for up to two dogs (if walks on the beach and sniffing out independent shops is their thing, too).

Rest assured there’s also a rack here for easy and secure storage during your stay.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are quiet and restful, with several rooms featuring super king Hypnos beds alongside flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities, and mini fridges – so a midnight snack need never be far away. There are complimentary bathrobes to slip into when you wake, while the en suite shower rooms are stocked with toiletries, flannels, and luxury towels, helping you start each day feeling that little bit more looked after.

If your days call for venturing beyond the home, the Royal Military Canal and high street are close by, with plenty of independent cafés, antique shops, and tea rooms to explore. Hythe’s shingle beach is also just a short walk away, its promenade stretching all the way to nearby Folkestone. With some great restaurants on the doorstep, including Griggs of Hythe and the Michelin-starred Hide and Fox, foodies are well-served, too.
