Spring is a time of renewal and, at Bloom Stays, we can’t help but love the season for its fresh bursts of colour and new blooms (it is in our name, after all!). As the countryside of Kent and East Sussex awakens, there’s plenty to celebrate this time of year, from the arrival of woolly newborn lambs to the thrill of Easter egg hunts.

With longer days and milder weather, we see this time of year as the perfect opportunity to get outdoors with the family and embrace all that spring has to offer. Whether you’re looking to meet friendly farm animals, take part in seasonal festivities, or simply enjoy the fresh air, we’ve rounded up some of the best Easter events happening across the region throughout the April break.

Lambing season in Kent & Sussex

Lambing season is all about fresh starts, fluffy faces, and the simple joy of watching wobbly-legged lambs finding their feet. Whether you’re visiting for the cuteness overload or to soak up a bit of countryside charm, here are some of the best spots to visit new lambs in the county:

  • Hadlow College Lambing Weekend

Join Hadlow College for their annual Lambing Weekend on April 25-26th. While the newborn lambs are the stars of the show, this event presents plenty of activities for making a day of it, including arts & crafts, tractor trailer rides, archery, birds of prey displays, competitions, fun fair rides, and food & drink vendors.

  • Broadlees Farm Lambing Days

This family-run working farm offers a very special visiting opportunity this Easter – the only time it opens to the public across the year! From April 3rd-19th, Broadlees Farm welcomes families to observe lambing in a traditional setting – you may even see a lamb being born! Admission is £9 for adults and £7 for children and senior citizens; no booking is necessary.

  • Little Fant Farm Lambing Sessions

Head to Maidstone’s Little Fant Farm on the weekend of April 5-6th, and you’ll get to see all their newborn lambs, and ask their local shepherd about all things lambing. The farm’s tea barn will be open, and selling a selection of homemade cakes, sausage rolls, and beverages. Under 2s visit free, and well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.

  • Frampton Farm Lambing Experience

Located between Folkestone and Dover, Frampton Farm offers private lambing sessions across several dates from the 28th March to the 19th April. Groups of up to eight can enjoy an exclusive hour’s session in the barn and polytunnel, meeting the farm’s lambs and kid goats. For a lambing experience with a difference, why not book in to the farm’s Spring Baby Animal Experience? Here, guests will get a longer session to meet all baby animals born for the spring, including kid goats, piglets, and crias (baby alpacas).

  • Four Winds Farm Lambing Days

Four Winds Farm in Bidborough hosts its lambing days on April 18th and 19th this year. Here, families can see newborn lambs, enjoy sheep shearing demonstrations, view sheepdog displays, and participate in various farm activities.

Easter egg hunts & trails

Easter just isn’t Easter without the excitement of a good old-fashioned egg hunt. For those in it for the chase this month (or maybe just the chocolate), the following trails are ready to be explored:

  • Betteshanger Park Easter Trail

Enjoy an outdoor Easter adventure at Betteshanger Park, where children can follow a themed trail, solve clues, and earn a chocolatey reward at the end. The event runs from March 28th to April 6th.

  • Kent Life Easter Eggstravaganza

This Easter, Kent Life is inviting visitors to ‘spring into Easter’ with a variety of Easter activities spread across several weeks, including animal feeding sessions, farm rides, and Farmer George’s Easter Trail – among others.

  • Lullingstone Castle Easter Trail & Quiz

Lullingstone Castle and The World Garden kick off their 2026 season with an Easter Trail & Quiz from April 2nd to 6th. Here, aspiring plant hunters will be able to scour The World Garden and its grounds for Easter clues, before reporting back on their discoveries to claim an Easter-themed surprise.

  • Battle Abbey Easter Quest

Taking place from March 28th to April 19th, the Easter Quest at Battle Abbey invites children to explore the historic battlefield while solving clues. Completing the quest earns participants a certificate and chocolate reward, all for the price of £2 per child (in addition to admission).

  • Walmer Castle & Gardens Easter Quest

Families visiting Walmer Castle can take part in an Easter Quest this spring, following clues through the gardens and grounds to uncover hidden eggs. The quest costs £2 per child, with no advance booking required.

  • National Trust Easter Trails

The National Trust offers a series of Easter trails and activities across various properties in Kent and East Sussex, including Bateman’s, Ightham Mote, Scotney Castle, and Emmetts Gardens. For £3.50 plus admission, participants receive an Easter-themed trail sheet, bunny ears, and a choice of dairy or vegan / free from chocolate egg.

More family-friendly activities to enjoy this April

Beyond lambing and egg hunts, there are plenty of events and activities to keep little ones busy over the Easter holidays:

  • Leeds Castle: Easter Quest

From April 3rd to 19th, Leeds Castle invites families to journey deep in the woodlands to help find the mysterious Spring Crystal. By solving riddles and collecting stamps, visitors can use their clues to assist the enchanted keepers to bring spring back once and for all! All you need to bring is your own pencil and your imagination.

  • Meet Paddington at Kent & East Sussex Railway

For just one day (Friday 10th April), visitors to Tenterden Town Station will get to embark on a very special railway journey. Alight on a vintage steam train and enjoy a 60-minute journey around the Kent countryside, before returning to the station to see Paddington the Bear himself waiting to meet families, wave hello and pose for photos. Every child will receive a complimentary storybook, activity sheet, crayon, biscuit and juice to enjoy during the journey.

Where to stay

For those seeking a rustic retreat within nature, look no further than our shepherd’s huts. The Romney, Rumwold, and The Lookerer on Romney Marsh serve up all the charm of the Romney March landscape, including panoramic views of grazing sheep and open skies, alongside thoughtful, cosy touches.

In Tankerton, just a pebble’s throw from Whitstable, a subtly stylish coastal gem of a holiday house awaits, along with its very own beach hut (all the better for enjoying the fabulous weather we’ve been having!). Sleeping 8, Little Beach House is the perfect holiday home for two family units travelling together, its bunk room allowing for the children to be tucked in all together while the grown-ups socialise into the little hours.

We also have a couple of properties on the Kent-Sussex border: Hearts of Oak, a charming cottage that sleeps six and is situated right in the heart of the village of Biddenden, and Staplecross’ Wheelwrights Cottage, a holiday home that combines traditional appeal with modern amenities that’s ideal for couples and small families.
