Escape from the hustle and bustle of every day electronic life at The Lookerer, and indulge in the beauty and tranquillity of nature. Perched on the edge of Romney Marsh, this shepherds hut offers a cosy retreat without the distractions of phones, internet, and TV – so you can completely unwind, de-stress and soak up the peace, quiet and far-reaching countryside views (although 4G should be available if you need it).

One of two shepherd’s huts nestled within a sheep meadow, The Lookerer enjoys a truly special ‘off-grid’ location, with panoramic views stretching across the marshland towards the historic Lympne ridge. Above the landscape sits Lympne Castle, built in the 11th century for the Archdeacons of Canterbury, adding a fascinating sense of history to this tranquil corner of Kent.

Inside, the hut is bright, warm, and thoughtfully designed, combining rustic charm with modern comforts. A well-equipped kitchenette, cosy living area, and inviting wood-burning stove create a welcoming retreat after days spent exploring the countryside – and a delightful romantic base for any holiday in Kent. Guests can also enjoy a carefully curated welcome pack featuring local produce – the perfect introduction to the flavours of the region.

Beyond the hut, the peaceful surroundings invite you to simply sit back and take it all in. Watch the changing skies over the marsh, listen to the sounds of the countryside, and in spring, enjoy the unforgettable sight of lambs playing in the fields and the chance to help feed them.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome from 1st November to 28th February, when the surrounding fields are free from grazing sheep.

Looking for a thoughtful gift? A stay at the Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts makes a memorable countryside escape, and Gift Vouchers are available for anyone who would love a little time away in nature.
