Escape to the Kent countryside when you stay at Burleigh House, a large accommodation option at the foot of the North Downs that's great for groups who want to get away together.

This beautiful holiday home has kept plenty of its original character, including large sash windows, a sweeping staircase, and many finely decorated rooms to disappear into. The library has a wood burner and is a good place to curl up with a book, while younger guests can have their own private snug filled with toys and games. Meanwhile, the property's farmhouse-style kitchen opens out to the garden through French doors, and the grand dining room brings everyone back together for bigger meals and special occasions.

But it's outside where Burleigh House really comes into its own. Where better to spend your days than in the glorious garden, where manicured hedges and colourful planting set the scene for the fullest possible range of facilities? From a heated swimming pool and outdoor games room to table tennis and patio furniture, you can easily make a whole day of it without going anywhere. Swim, eat outside, play a few games, and see how long you can persuade everyone to stay out of the house.

If you do fancy exploring, the North Downs are right on the doorstep, with plenty of walking and cycling routes nearby. There are country pubs within about five minutes by car, while Hythe and Folkestone are both less than half an hour away for a day by the sea. Charing station is also within walking distance, with good connections for heading further afield. Although, when you've got six bedrooms, a swimming pool and a garden like this, you may well find you don't get around to doing much of that at all.
