Visitors may be looking for some sort of aeronautical link in the name of this lovely cottage, but they would be historically out by around some three hundred years, as this house is so named for being on the site of village ‘Cock Pit’ in the Seventeenth century. Once popular Cock fighting took place here, indeed, next door to ‘The Cock’, the original name for the pub, renamed ‘The Kings Arms’ around 1805.

The only fight visitors today may have is with the duvet as they battle their way out of bed here. Grade II listed, Cockpit Cottage was beautifully renovated in 2024, and now offers outstanding self-catering accommodation for families and groups of friends.

Each of the five bedrooms offers a luxurious experience including sumptuous beds and linens, stunning bathrooms and comfortable sitting areas around the house. Why not settle in with a good book or play board games whilst sitting by the cosy double-sided woodburning stove? On colder days the house is comfortable and cosy, whilst when the sun shines you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the garden. If you want a day off from cooking the fabulous The Kings Arms pub is literally next door and Bloom Stays guests benefit from 10% discount on their food bill. All there’s left to argue about is who gets which bedroom. We’ll let you fight that one out.
