Set within the grounds of the Dormestone Farm estate, The Figgy is a pretty single-storey lodge in the heart of the Kent countryside, on the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Peaceful, private, and perfectly sized for two, it is a lovely choice for couples wanting to switch off for a few days and spend time in the countryside, with footpaths, cycling routes, and a good local pub all close by.
Inside, the open-plan layout feels warm and relaxed, with a comfortable sitting area, Smart TV, and wood burner bringing a cosy feel in every season. The kitchen is compact but practical, with an oven, hob, fridge, and dining space for simple suppers or leisurely breakfasts before heading out for the day. Just beyond, French doors open directly onto the enclosed cottage garden, creating an easy indoor-outdoor flow when the weather is kind.
The bedroom is calm and restful, while the bathroom adds a little extra charm with its roll-top bath and hand-held shower – a particularly welcome treat after a long trek across the Downs or an afternoon spent exploring nearby villages. Mature trees and planting in the garden offer shaded areas on sunnier days, and the patio makes a lovely spot for lunch outside or an early evening drink among the birdsong.
Whether you are here for countryside walks, cycling, pub lunches, or easy day trips, The Figgy is brilliantly placed. Canterbury, Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst, Folkestone, and Hythe are all within easy reach, while Ashford’s excellent rail links make getting here and around refreshingly straightforward. For a romantic cottage break in Kent, it’s a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day.
