The Figgy is a pretty lodge set within the grounds of the Dormestone Farm estate and located on the North Downs an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This cute lodge is perfect for couples who want to immerse themselves in the lovely Kent countryside and is ideal for any time of the year. On warm days the pretty cottage garden has mature trees to offer both sun and shade and the patio is a lovely setting for an alfresco lunch or early evening cocktail. The Figgy is surrounded by lovely walks and is also great for cycling. Further afield is the historic City of Canterbury and the great transport links from Ashford International.

The Figgy is located in the Dormestone Farm estate. Dormestone House is also available, sleeping up to 10 guests.
Please note the gardener attends to the grounds every Saturday.
Please note check in is 4pm and check out is 10am.

We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.

Please ensure you check out on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
Please note quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am. Please be respectful to neighbours.
Pets are not permitted.
Parties and loud music are not permitted.

In the Area

Situated just 6 miles north of Ashford, yet surrounded by countryside you’ll find the village of Charing. You'll be in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the North Downs, there are fantastic footpaths on your doorstep worthy of exploration. The Bowl Inn pub is only a 10-minute walk away. Charing is the perfect spot for long country walks, with ample cycling routes on your doorstep, yet within easy reach of road and rail connections, so a trip to the seaside can easily be enjoyed with Hythe being only a 25-minute drive away and vibrant Folkestone 5 minutes further, or a train caught from or to the bright lights of the capital - made even more convenient with the station being a less than a 5 minute walk away. If you can draw yourself away for the beautiful grounds of Burleigh House for a moment, there is an abundance of things to see and do with countryside walks on your doorstep from Leeds Castle (a family favourite!) to Sissinghurst Castle, the South of England Rare Breeds Centre and the cobbled streets of historic Canterbury all within easy reach. Lovely relaxing stay in peaceful location. 4.3/5

Wonderful first impression on driving up to the property, location was perfect for a bit of 'me' time. Struck lucky with the weather and was able to sit outside a lot of the time, enjoying the birds, of which there were plenty, including a sparrowhawk that sat on the fence and shocked the socks off me, closest I'd ever been to one, a special moment. Garden was in Autumn mode, so a bit bare, which is only to be expected, apples all over the place which probably came down in the high wind a few days before but I managed to salvage quite a few so they weren't wasted. They were truly delicious too. A bit disappointed with the kitchen facilities, only 1 very small baking tray and nothing to use as a casserole dish for the oven, not a teaspoon to be found, and no measuring jug, luckily I didn't need to use the frying pan, it would have involved climbing on a chair to reach it, not ideal for an oldish person on her own. Sofa was very comfy, bed was a bit too soft for me but I recognise that's a personal preference, I had to hoist myself out of the dip, mattress seemed to suck you in. Didn't see a soul my entire stay, apart from a delivery guy, and that suited me fine. Bath was wonderful, piping hot water and nice and deep, I lounged for quite some time. All in all I had a lovely relaxing stay and would certainly book again, I'd just bring a few kitchen bits with me next time.

Our return stay at Figgy 3.7/5

Lovely to be able to come and stay at Figgy again. Just noticed a slight deterioration all looking like it needs a decoration A big Freshen up needed. !! Painting etc. all looking.a little bit dull & grubby ! not quite clean enough for me. Didnt get that feeling of clean. But I brought my own cleaning bits any way Still didnt spoil my time with you. But I would be hesitant to rebook until TLC improvements have been made.

Two week stopover 5/5

We were between house moves and The Figgy was our temp home. Location is superb, really private and set in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation is really homely and warm, especially with the nights drawing in. Kitchen is functional and TV and internet all creating creature comforts, theres plenty of wildlife to keep you company too. It was a privilege to have stayed here.

Wonderful stay in a wonderful place 5/5

The Figgy is a lovely little cottage situated in the grounds of a beautiful estate. The place has everything you could need for your stay (we especially loved the bath!), and would be ideal for anyone visiting anywhere in Kent. The information booklet provided was very helpful, and the staff at Bloom Stays were delightful and always happy to help. We would absolutely recommend this place, and intend to be back ourselves soon!

The Figgy is a delightful little home away from home and we had a lovely week of walks, good food, fabulous baths (roll-top!) and SNOW! Would love to return....
