Waltham is a pretty village on the North Downs surrounded by excellent walking and cycling countryside, and just a short drive to Canterbury and only 20 minutes from the Channel Tunnel. As such it is an excellent base for touring.

Cavallo Barn is a newly converted barn with a sociable open-plan living space, two bedrooms and a bathroom. A ramp to the front door and the single-storey building makes it ideal for people with restricted mobility. Outside is a large gravelled courtyard where guests can sit and relax in the peaceful setting of the estate and watch the horses roaming in the paddocks. The owners welcome you to meet their friendly horses which are kept on the estate should you wish to, which makes this accommodation so very different. Should you be keen to don the riding hat and look to enjoy a hack arrangements can be made at a nearby school please ask us for more details.

For larger groups please see The Homestead sleeping 17 or The Chestnuts sleeping 21.

A lovely stay 4.8/5

We stayed at Cavallo Barn from 25/02 to 17/03 We enjoyed the location, the quite and the kindness of the owners, always there to help. The apartment offered all the amenities advertised and all was in good working order. We would love to have the opportunity to go back one day. S & L Budroni

Beautiful Spot - Modern Interior - Missing a few practical things 3.8/5

We stayed here with two kids for just over two weeks, after we found ourselves unable to access our home (long, COVID-related story). Bloom Stays (the agents) were really helpful to us all through that difficult period - very responsive and considerate. The owners were also really friendly and welcoming - for example letting the kids meet the horses at the stable. It's a beautiful part of the world, with immediate access to lovely walks and easy car access to Canterbury and other lovely parts of Kent. The home itself seems recently fitted out to a good standard. As you'd see from the pictures it's quite compact! There were one or two minor irritations. For example, the fitted sheet seemed to be somehow the wrong size - every night re fitted it, every morning it had popped off. Also the kitchen equipment was bit sparse. We didn't find things like a chopping board, mixing bowl, baking sheet (though as it happened we were traveling with own kitchen stuff as part of the long, COVID related story!).
