You might expect a link to aviation from the name of this charming cottage, but in fact, its history goes back much further. Cockpit Cottage sits on the site of the village’s 17th-century ‘Cock Pit’, where the once-popular pastime of cockfighting took place – right next to what was then called ‘The Cock’ pub, renamed The Kings Arms in around 1805.
Today, the only battle guests will face is resisting the lure of the duvet. Grade II-listed and newly renovated in 2024, Cockpit Cottage now offers stylish and spacious self-catering accommodation for families or friends escaping to the Kent countryside.
Here you'll discover three beautifully presented bedrooms, each with plush bedding, indulgent linens and their own slice of comfort. The bathrooms are just as special, and there are plenty of cosy corners for board games, reading, or warming up by the double-sided wood burning stove. On cooler days, the cottage is wonderfully snug, and when the sun’s out, the garden is the perfect place for a glass of something chilled.
Fancy a night off from the kitchen? The Kings Arms is quite literally next door, and Bloom Stays guests enjoy 10% off the food bill. The only thing left to squabble over? Who gets which bedroom. We’ll leave that one to you.
