Leave your shoes at the door – this is an apartment made for beach lovers who are happiest with sandy feet and salty air. Occupying the top floor of a small collection of beachfront apartments, Pett Beach View is a contemporary coastal retreat overlooking the beautiful stretch of shoreline between the historic towns of Rye and Hastings.

Designed with relaxed seaside escapes in mind, the apartment sleeps four guests across two beautifully presented king-size bedrooms. Beyond a well equipped kitchen and spacious open-plan living area (which features plush chairs you can sink right into), full-height doors open up to a wide balcony that brings a distinctly New England feel to this corner of East Sussex, calling for outdoor cooking by barbecue with friends, or simply gazing at the sunset over the sea.

Just footsteps from the front door, Pett Level Beach is one of Sussex's quieter stretches of coastline, sitting at the end of the 28-mile stretch of the historic Royal Military Canal which starts in Hythe. Chalk cliffs rise dramatically from the western end of the beach, creating craggy pools and hidden coves below where, perhaps unsurprisingly, smugglers and other vagabonds made it the perfect hiding place for their loot. Today, visitors similarly seek out treasures here – but in the form of fossils and birdlife.

A fantastic base for scenic coastal walks and exploring the nearby towns of Rye, Hastings, Bexhill and Camber, this beachside apartment welcomes up to two dogs to join you for your stay, however do check the local authority website as restrictions may be in place during the warmer months.

Travelling with family or friends? Pett Beach View can be booked alongside neighbouring Pett Beach Cove and Pett Beach Landing (subject to availability), allowing larger groups of up to 8 guests to stay close together while enjoying the privacy of separate apartments.
