Expectations met 5/5
I always research where we might go on holiday and having seen a press article in a renovation publication I knew what to expect when booking West Cottage.at Dungeness. The property enjoys sea views from the lounge and master bedroom, and from the kitchen the old lighthouse and the entrance door across to the new lighthouse. The owners has created a calm home with quality furnishings, comfortable bedrooms and in an amazing location. We took advantage of our immediate location, the garden, the beach, the Fish Shack, Prospect Cottage and a walk to the now decommissioned power station. We had the weather to be able to eat in the garden. We saw some beautiful sunrises and intend to return to magical Dungeness in another season.

A week on the Ness 4.8/5
What a stunning place and setting. Perfect for exploring Dungeness and the area, great views from all the windows, warm and cosy. I personally didnt find the settee very comfortable, but managed by making a nest of pillows and cushions. Luckily I was on my own or this might have been an issue. Couldnt fault anything else, has been done up to an impressively high standard.

Beautiful cottage, but felt let down by surprising proximity to nuclear power station 4.2/5
As we approached the address provided, a vast complex of industrial looking buildings loomed large on the horizon. We were convinced that we had somehow taken a wrong turn somewhere, but to our dismay, the cottages we had rented for the weekend ended up being located almost directly next to the fence surrounding a sprawling, overwhelming Nuclear Power Plant. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry (I did a bit of both, as it had been my responsibility to find a location for our only weekend away in almost a year and I felt like I had let everyone down). Even though we had looked at the location of the cottages on an online map, the power plant was not visible / indicated, unless one zoomed in very closely (which I did upon our arrival). We all agreed that the description of the cottages and location should definitely have made it clear that they are situated directly next to the Dungeness Nuclear Power Plant. The photos on the website also cleverly do not hint at this and we felt a little duped, to be honest.
The cottages themselves are absolutely gorgeously furnished with the highest quality fittings, bed linen and towels etc. It was a pleasure staying in them and as the weather was absolutely abysmal all weekend long, they were our refuge and we thoroughly enjoyed their luxury. After a while we even forgot about the Power Plant and I might one day return to Dungeness during the summer months, as there is something magical about the area.
Bloom Stays was also incredibly helpful and accommodating, as we had some last minute changes to our bookings, which meant we had to figure out solutions. I would highly recommend Bloom Stays!

Just lovely. The house was perfectly equipped, beautifully furnished. Dungeness is bleak and wild and glorious.

Stunning Cottage in Dungeness 4.8/5
This property is designed/decorated to a beautiful standard and is extremely thoughtfully appointed with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Katherine the owner was extremely welcoming to a property with so much Dungeness history.
Highly recommend for an incredibly memorable food option - Supper on the Stones at Claire Bruces Dungeness Kitchen. You can book Claire privately for a group and she will cook and host you at her amazing home which is an old Lloyds Signal building. She is a thoroughly engaging host who uses all locally sourced produce and has incredible knowledge of the area and the power station.

West Cottage, Dungeness 5/5
We had a wonderful stay in Dungeness. West Cottage is lovely and beautifully done. The furnishings are comfortably simple and very attractive. The stone building was cosy - cool in the sun and warm in the rain. Easy access to the boardwalk and shingle beach. The kitchen is well-equipped and our check-in / check-out very straightforward. I'm only hesitant to leave a glowing review as want to be sure we will be able to return sometime soon!

A stunning cottage in an amazing location 5/5
This historical cottage has been sympathetically updated, giving modern facilities that blend in with the age of the building. From the lounge there are views across the shingle to other interesting buildings that point to the past heritage of this area and then onto the sea. In the evening Dungeness becomes very calm and peaceful and West cottage is the ideal place in which to chill, watch the ships in the distance as they sail through the English Channel whilst enjoying a slower and more relaxed pace of life. This property is highly recommended.

Great stay 4.8/5
Perfect location, beautiful cottage, everything needed for a quiet walking holiday. If it had any negatives it would be the sofa, in the lounge, was very uncomfortable, but that's nit picking.

Life's a Beach 5/5
Such a unique place to go and stay, both the cottage and the area. To be able to walk out of a cottage that feels beautifully simple but really well designed and put together straight onto an amazing pebble beach looking straight out to France was a joy, especially as we had the 3yr and 1yr in tow. For us, having the Dungeness Nuclear Power Station as a next door neighbour added to the drama of the landscape. The Dungeness estate is littered with amazing architectural buildings, the odd art gallery, a narrow gauge steam engine and probably the best fish shack we've been to. We were on the beach when the boats came in so we followed the catch up to the shipping container converted into a kitchen and ate a fantastic haddock chowder, clam roll and catch of the day and chips. We even bought a John Dory to take back to the lighthouse cottage and cook later. Absolutely loved it, can't wait to go back.

Escapism 5/5
West Cottage is simply marvellous, so beautiful inside - every little thing had been thought of. It has a great atmosphere, it cocoons you with its thick stone walls and the elegant furnishings. Its a great retreat from the outside world set in a beautiful, unique landscape

Stunning coastal cottage 5/5
For me, West Cottage is one of the loveliest coastal cottages Ive ever stayed in
it is spacious, bright and beautifully designed
every detail both inside and out, in the gorgeous garden, is outstanding, making this the perfect peaceful and serene hideaway, with unique and rustic views out over Dungeness. The entire booking process including communication with the owner was faultless, and I cant wait to stay here again
thank you for a truly wonderful stay in such a special property.
