Cut from the same cloth as neighbouring The Old Toolshed – and available to book together if desired – The Old Workshop is a cosy retreat that nods to the farm's working past while offering a peaceful base for exploring the Kent coast and countryside.
Where workbenches, wrenches and saws once sat, guests can enjoy breakfast under a beautifully rustic carved canopy, made from local timber. The kitchen worktops and spacious dining table are also handcrafted from recycled woods, and framed by vintage mirrors, adding to the home's impact. Rich, jewel-coloured interiors are embellished with tongue and groove panelling to enhance the character of this quirky one bedroom lodge for two – and did we mention the glorious Chesterfield armchair, which is perfect for sinking into with a good book or glass of wine?
Set on the Elham Valley Way in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, above the creative coastal town of Folkestone. The Old Workshop is further surrounded by lovely fields and paths, making it perfect for walking. On the clearest days, France will be your furthest horizon point in one direction, while Canterbury, Deal and Dover sit in the other. If the coast is calling, you can spend your days exploring Folkestone’s vibrant Harbour Arm, packed with independent eateries, bars and events, or wander into Folkestones' Creative Quarter to taste the owners' beer – brewed close to The Old Workshop at their nearby bar, The Blind Pig.
Apparently, a pint goes down particularly well following some time in the hot tub, followed by a hand-crafted pizza in the woodfire pizza oven – another feature of The Old Workshop.
